Pam Malafronte is an educator who has her Master’s in Reading Education. Interestingly, she always had a special fascination; a life-long love of viewing and especially creating art. She remembers it beginning when she was in second grade. She painted a vibrant watercolor of a blonde-haired girl who was stick figured, in an a-line skirt, with a whimsical red lipped smile and two blue paint dots for eyes. Her art teacher, John Lewarn, from Lenox, MA saw something special in the painting and entered it in a local contest for elementary school children.
Her painting was judged a winner by America’s Norman Rockwell and received first prize out of all painters entered in Berkshire County, MA. It was displayed in a prominent gallery in the Berkshire Museum and seeing it there was the moment she recalls as inspiring her to continue to create art. She absolutely sees value in, and is moved by, all forms of art. Pam’s work ranges from her whimsical “Artvelopes,” to the profoundly mature expressions of her highly textured canvas works.
Any viewer of her work from her canvas creations, to her altered books and mixed media pieces, will see that a world of creative colors and texture identify her pieces. Pam enjoys making MINDFUL art that appears old and feels spiritual, which is uplifting and thought provoking. One can feel the depth of her maturity as an artist in her highly textured acrylic paintings which are inspired by life’s events. Her work often teases the brain to travel to an introspective level. She operates Lotus Heart Workshops, which demonstrate Art as a lifelong Mindful Activity.
Recent Local Awards and Exhibits:
